Sage is a chic alternative to your G & Ts this summer.
Serve either a summery, light, Gin Spritz or a stronger Gimlet or Sage Sour.
First of all, make the Sage and Lemon Syrup that’s the basis for your drinks:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
juice + zest of one lemon
sage leaves-around 10-15 (depending on your love for sage flavour)
Melt the sugar and water then add the lemon, zest and sage and bring to boil for a couple of minutes. Leave to cool and for the flavours to seep into the syrup. Test it’s lemony and sage-y enough for you then bottle and refrigerate.
Although this syrup can simply be topped with soda/mineral water for alcohol-free partying, it really tastes delicious in either:
Sage Spritz
30ml or 45ml gin
30 mls or 45ml syrup
Pour on ice into a chilled glass, top with soda, mix and garnish with a fresh sage leaf and if desired, a lemon twist
or
Sage Gimlet or Sage Sour
60ml gin
30ml syrup
30ml lemon juice
(add optional egg white to make a Sage Sour)
Shake everything with ice in a shaker and strain-pour into a chilled glass, garnish with a fresh sage leaf.
