FAQs

How do I remove my rubber label?

  • Snip and peel vertically until the entire label is free of the bottle.
  • Alternatively, you can snip and trim horizontally around the top of the bottle so that only the label covering the sphere is removed.
  • If you are very careful, it’s also possible (with some brute force) to roll label up from the bottom and remove whole. From there, you can slice it into rubber bands or even arm jewellry like Sara does.

Why is my cork wet/leaking/flaking?

Our corks are all natural from cork trees and unlike synthetic closures they are porous. No two corks are ever completely alike.

And because our bottles are handmade, each is glazed differently. Sometimes this means the cork will become damp or on rare occasions, leak.

Please contact us if you have any issues at all so we can replace.

Please also note that it is important to keep the cork dry to prevent any mustiness developing. We are trying hard not to resort to plastic seals and stoppers.

Why is there no plastic seal or tamper, sticky labels, shrink-wrap, glue, synthetic stopper, harmful foils or toxic dyes near this gin?

We don’t like those things.

Why is my label not pristine white?

It’s natural rubber and has variations in colour tones. Just as the words on it are screen-printed so may also contain variations.

What should I drink Exhibit A gin with?

The possibilities are infinite but we like a classic g & t with 1 part gin and 3 parts proper tonic. Fevertree Light is our current go-to because of the low sugar content but no artificial sweetener.

East Imperial Old World, Quina Fina and Fentiman’s all work well too.

We also love a pink gin with grapefruit soda and a dash of Angostura bitters. We are mixing gins endlessly so check out our instagram @exhibitabrand for ideas.

Can I buy Exhibit A anywhere else?

If you see our distinctive bottle at a bar near you, you know you’re in the right place because we are super picky.

In Auckland head to Alma (Britomart) for a gin tonica style and Daphnes (Ponsonby Rd) for a martini on the rocks.

Do you ship overseas?

We don’t yet, sorry.

Does the shipper box go into the recycling? And the packing tape?

Yes. Throw it all in together.

Why ceramic?

Looks good, protects the purity of the gin from light, maintains a cooler temperature and feels good to touch. No two bottles are the same.

Where is Exhibit A gin made?

In a little rural distillery at 183 Akatarawa road near Waikanae, New Zealand. Simon and Chris (gold medal winning gin makers) craft our recipe especially for us here.

Where are Exhibit A ceramic bottles made?

In Auckland, New Zealand in studio by Gidon Bing from local clay.

What do the numbers mean?

The clue is in the Dewey Decimal system.

How can this be so good?

We know, it’s delicious.
